About the Vanguard Transition Center
The VTC offers opportunities for college support and other post-secondary training, community-based vocational training and career education along with social and daily living skills development to young adults, 18–21 years of age, who have been diagnosed with a Pennsylvania Department of Special Education exceptionality of autism, speech-language disorders, emotional disturbance and/or other health impairment (OHI).
Students receive education, counseling, self-advocacy training and therapies in addition to gaining career experience. For students who have IEPs calling for related services and specially-designed instruction, services are available. Classes in current events, healthy lifestyles and human social development are offered to all students along with community-based activities and recreational opportunities.
