ESY at The Vanguard School

  • Ages 6–17

    The ESY Program at The Vanguard School is offered to current students and students in neighboring school districts, ages 6–17, who are eligible for ESY services. The program is designed to maintain skills and reduce regression during the summer months by incorporating academic, social, behavioral and vocational Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. Each summer, a program theme such as “Back to Nature” and “Summer Sleuths” provides an engaging foundation for summer learning and fun!

Weekly Activities & Schedule

  • Activities Include

    • Summer clubs including cooking, crafts, nature, technology, sports, pottery, drawing, karate
    • Water play
    • Theme-based projects
    • NEW! Social programming with peer mentors at Camp Kweebec (Middle and High School only)
    • Community service projects
    • Field trips
    • Vocational experiences
    • Students receive speech-language therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy as well as counseling as specified in their Extended School Year IEPs.

    Daily Schedule

    • 9:00–9:30 am: Homeroom and Social Skills Groups
    • 9:30–10:15 am: Reading
    • 10:15–10:30 am: Snack Break
    • 10:30–11:00 am: Math
    • 11:00–11:30 am: Language Arts
    • 11:30 am–12:30 pm: Lunch and Recess
    • 12:30–2:30 pm: Social and Leisure Skills Programs
    • 2:30–3:00 pm: Homeroom and Preparation for Dismissal
