Program Sustainability

  • When Dr. Milton Brutten founded the “Main Line Remedial Education Center” in December 1959, he probably did not envision that the small school in a private home would evolve to a recognized leader in specialized educational services. In 1963, the Education Center became The Vanguard School, and was the first school in the State to be an approved private schoolunder Enactment of Act 318, which provided partial tuition assistance for children whose educational needs could not be served in their local public schools.

Today, The Vanguard School is one of the signature programs of Valley Forge Educational Services, whose offerings have grown to include our Adult and Recreation Services program. Over 64 years, countless students and adult participants have received access to quality education and clinical services, vocational training and support, and recreational and respite opportunities. Building on this success, we will boldly meet the moment to best serve our community, and welcome donors to play a crucial part in our growth and vitality by investing in our Program Sustainability Fund.

This fund will support three priority areas chosen by VFES Executive Director Dr. Grace Fornicola and VFES Leadership: Staff Recruitment and Retention, Program Development, and Facility and Campus Improvement.

Gifts made to this fund will ensure VFES will continue to be a trailblazer for the next 64 years an beyond. We thank you for your support!
