The Raising Expectations for Academic Learning or REAL Certificate offers students with disabilities the opportunity to participate in the same learning environments available to same-age peers in an academic-, vocational- and social inclusion-focused program. This two-year program includes auditing a minimum of one (1) undergraduate course per semester and completion of a specified number of vocational and other experiences. -

Mercyhurst University Oasis Program (Erie, PA)
This one-year to two-year program gives adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities the opportunity to earn a proficiency-based certificate in a college setting. The unique, non-credit program gives students the opportunity to learn academic and vocational skills alongside traditional students pursuing similar vocational interests. Students are also provided the opportunity to learn important social and “soft” skills that are pivotal for employment.

PA Department of Education - Project AACHIEVE
This project focuses on supporting college-bound students with high functioning autism as they transition to higher education. PDE/BSE is providing the support of Dr. Jane Thierfeld Brown, Director of College Autism Spectrum, a recognized expert in college support. As part of PDE/BSE’s commitment to the project Dr. Thierfeld Brown and the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) staff will work with high schools and colleges to create a successful framework for college access and supporting successful degree completion.

Temple University Academy for Adult Learning (Philadelphia, PA)
A four-semester certificate program providing individuals with intellectual disabilities an authentic college experience while developing vocational skills and career aspirations. Academy students take academic courses in addition to a weekly seminar exploring college life and career options based on their interests and goals. All Academy students are required to complete a semester-long weekly internship on Temple's Main Campus. Each Academy student is matched with a mentor who is a matriculated Temple student. All students participate in a wide variety of activities, events, and organizations within Temple University. -

Social Security and Supplemental Security Income
The Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability programs are the largest of several Federal programs that provide assistance to people with disabilities. While these two programs are different in many ways, both are administered by the Social Security Administration and only individuals who have a disability and meet medical criteria may qualify for benefits under either program.

Ticket to Work
Ticket to Work is a free and voluntary program that can help Social Security beneficiaries go to work, get a good job that may lead to a career, and become financially independent, all while they keep their Medicare or Medicaid. Individuals who receive Social Security benefits because of a disability and are age 18 through 64 probably already qualify for the program.

SPIN offers Employment and Community Participation Services across Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties. Carousel Connections
Carousel Connections provides community experiences and training for teenagers and young adults focusing on “next steps” and building independence in the home, on the job, and on the go! At Carousel Connections, opportunities are provided to learn, maintain, and improve skills through participation in vocational training, independent living mentoring, and recreational activities. Programs include a six week residential summer experience based on the campus of Haverford College, adventure weekends to the Pocono Mountains, and family and individual consulting to share resources related to the transition process and supporting program goals within the home. This fall, Carousel Connections launched community “crews” and volunteer day experiences to further develop vocational skills, build independence and self-confidence, nurture relationships with organizations and community partners in the area, and foster inclusive living-learning experiences.

Spectra Support Services
Spectrum Disorders (ASD), the staff of Spectra Support Services, provides quality interventions that improve the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. Serving preschool children through adults, we provide an array of services including: individual interventions (coaching, counseling, music therapy), group interventions (music therapy, social and attention skills groups, sibling groups), and training and support. We also offer a unique case management service for those families who “don’t know where to start” to connect them with supports they need and are entitled to, and are launching new programming for transitioning teens and young adults in the fall of 2018.

The Whitemarsh Aktion Club allows adults living with disabilities to participate in community service projects, gain leadership skills and become more involved in society. We are a service club that is sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club of Norriton Circle and the Kiwanis Club of Conshohocken.

LASATA Farms
Equine Assisted Therapies including Horseback Riding, Horsemanship and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy and Learning. We also offer learning environments utilizing our farm and it’s needs for those who are differently able offering opportunities to learn new skills, instill responsibility and follow through and to observe the workings of many trades and skill sets. Camps and other educational opportunities are provided at our farm as well.

We are an Adult Asperger Syndrome/ Autism Spectrum Disorder Support Group. We meet monthly every 2nd Saturday in Berwyn, PA. We’re a local chapter of a national organization. New Avenue Foundation
Our mission is to create more meaningful lives for people with disabilities through creative social, employment and housing programs. Our weekly Friday night coffeehouse called Our Community Cup has been running successfully for over a year and a half. Our cooking classes, hiking programs and yoga classes have been well attended. We have been working on employment opportunities and are looking to start a business in which to employ people with disabilities.
