Welcome

  • Dear Friends,

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Adult and Recreation Services (ARS) website. ARS offers several services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I hope you find this information helpful and identify a service that is the right fit for you or your loved one.

Specialized Recreation Services (formerly Summer Matters) offers multiple weekend retreats throughout the year, along with a two-week summer camp and a one-week beach getaway. All trips and experiences have specified age groups and are held at multiple locations. We typically enjoy weekends at places such as Mt. Gilead, Camp Kweebec and Fenwick Island.

Adult Services offers a range of services from employment to social activities. For ongoing employment supports, we offer Customized Workforce Solutions (CWS), which provides Community Based Work Assessments, Job Finding, and Job Coaching services. Our transition-aged summer employment experience, known as Vocational Immersion Program (VIP), provides a four-week immersive experience into the world of integrated employment and independent living skills. We are also proud to offer our newest service which is providing social opportunities for adults ages 21 and older.

ARS is proudly staffed by dedicated, passionate professionals who make our participants their top priority. Our goal is to provide quality, comprehensive services to all participants and be a strong advocate for participants’ needs. While we work more closely with our participants, we encourage families to be a part of the team as we work to help our participants learn and grow into a fulfilling, independent life.
From our ARS family to yours, we hope you stay healthy and safe and we look forward to the opportunity to serve you!

    Best,

    Christine Coughenour
Director of Adult and Recreation Services
