Dr. Jeffery Ebert was recently appointed Program Supervisor of the Vanguard Transition Center (VTC). Dr. Ebert has worked over 20 years in public education as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal in both Middle School and High School Settings. Dr. Ebert has an undergrad in Political Science at Gettysburg College, a Master's in Educational Leadership from Shippensburg University, and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University. Outside of work, Dr. Ebert enjoys spending time with family, coaching lacrosse, and following his children as they travel the East Coast playing club lacrosse. |

Kimberly "Kimmie" King is Vanguard's new High School Program Supervisor. She comes to us with a combined 10 years of experience in classroom teaching and school administration. She earned her Master's in Special Ed from Saint Joseph's University and has experience in Approved Private Schools, residential, and partial-hospitalization programs. Kimmie (as she likes to be called in person) loves animals and enjoys spending her weekends in animal care. |
Professional Development
Program coordinators are starting self-paced professional development sessions on the topic of “Educational Leadership”Most of Vanguard's school psychologists and school counselors have received an introductory professional development on an evidence-based strategy to help students learn specific self-regulation skills. The intervention focuses on teaching students to successfully respond to highly stressful situations, focus their attention, regulate their emotions, and expand their interpersonal skills. This training will be ongoing, and will be implemented with parents’ permission in individual and group formats depending on student’s needs.New Elementary Classroom
On January 2, our Elementary program welcomed four new students run by new teacher, Morgan Strizziere-Stewart (called "Stewart") and Classroom Aide, Michelle Mesaros. Isis Cooke and Emily Mangel also assist these students as 1:1 Aides. The new classroom includes 3 kindergarteners and 1 first grader.
Students are working on school readiness skills, learning and following school rules, and making friends, along with academic work at their individualized levels. The staff and students have lots of positive energy and we are glad they are with us!
