Lee Ann Reigel Recognized for Excellence in Education
School Counselor at Valley Forge Educational Services’ The Vanguard School and Kennett Square, Pennsylvania resident Lee Ann Reigel was awarded the school’s Excellence in Education Award Friday, June 19 at the Annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon. This award was established to honor Richmond Horrocks, a past member of the VFES’ Corporate Board of Trustees and a devoted supporter of The Vanguard School. At the time of his death in 2000, a memorial fund was established in his name to recognize educational excellence at The Vanguard School.
Ms. Reigel has been working at The Vanguard School for more than two decades. She was nominated by her co-workers in recognition of her positive support of students and colleagues, work on a number of committees to improve programming for students, her ability to quickly build rapport with students and her willingness to be of service in whatever capacity needed. The Award is presented annually to a peer-nominated Vanguard School staff member who provides direct services to students on a daily basis in recognition of his or her continuing efforts to make The Vanguard School a better place.
Darren Levin, PhD, Director of Clinical Services at Valley Forge Educational Services, presented Ms. Reigel with the award. “This year’s recipient is a crucial member of each student’s team, working collaboratively with everyone involved to ensure the student’s best interests are addressed,” said Dr. Levin. He went on to say, “Ms. Reigel is knowledgeable about our students’ needs and clearly communicates information to colleagues and families alike. She continually thinks of new ways to support students in a positive manner.”
