The Vanguard School Receives Major Safety Grant from Pennsylvania’s Commission on Crime and Delinquency

The safety of our students and staff is paramount. This spring, we submitted a funding request to the Pennsylvania’s Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) to help fund several safety improvements throughout The Vanguard School. Recently, we received the good news that our application was approved. VFES relies heavily upon external funding sources like PCCD to provide financial support to improve safety and security on our 28-acre campus. Unlike public schools, Vanguard School tuition revenue is restricted for educational purposes and cannot be allocated to these significant safety improvements. We look forward to sharing more details about this recent grant, including the award amount, once we receive more information.  Please stay tuned!

Partners in Excellence

The Vanguard School just completed an awesome week of appreciation for our teaching, clinical and support staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. Every day our incredible staff go above and beyond to ensure each student is fully supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. Teacher Appreciation Week reminds us of how invaluable our staff are in fulfilling our mission. We are committed to maintaining the best of the best in special education teaching staff for years to come. The Program Sustainability Fund (PSF) underscores this effort. The PSF is a crucial fundraising effort designated for the recruitment and retention of extraordinary educators and staff, as well as for program enhancements throughout The Vanguard School and Adult and Recreational Services and for facility upkeep. You are a vital aspect of keeping VFES at the forefront of education, recreation and employment services for those with special needs. Adult and Recreation Services Second Annual Summer Picnic

We are thrilled to support the second annual Adults and Recreation Services (ARS) summer picnic on Wednesday, June 26! This fun event gathers our deserving adults to enjoy community and camaraderie on our Malvern campus. Last year’s event offered the opportunity to learn more about what holding a paid position has meant for the dignity and independence of a deserving individual, and how summer camp experiences away from home have enriched the lives of young adults with disabilities. This year we plan to host roughly 100 participants, parents, supports coordinators, and staff for food, fun, and festivities throughout the afternoon, rain or shine. However, our ARS Summer Picnic wouldn’t be possible without the support of individuals and local companies who provide valuable services and in-kind donations so that we can support our attendees. If you would like to be a sponsor of this special day, click here. If you would like to make a donation, please click here and note ARS Picnic in the comment section. Finally, if you would like to make an in-kind donation, please email Amy Zylberman at amzylberman@vfes.net. With your help, we’re proudly showcasing that our participants deserve quality access to vocational and recreational opportunities!
