Mrs. Karen Picciotti

Welcome!   Prior to working at Vanguard,  I taught at Bancroft Neurohealth in NJ for 4 years.  I then taught in a NJ public school for 5 years where my K-2nd grade class was based on the principles of ABA.  After starting a family, I spent time as an educational/behavioral consultant in NJ.  I assisted implementing ABA programs for students with Autism in NJ public school settings with the agency, Interactive Kids.  I began working at the Vanguard School in 2016 as a job coach in the Vanguard Transition Center.  I started teaching the WORC program in 2017.

During our school closure, I have provided worksheets or activities on the left side of my page.  Click on WORC assignments and find your homeroom's assignment.  If you have access to a printer, print the worksheet to hand in when we are back in session.  If you do not have access to a printer, you also can write out your answers on a sheet of paper.  Be sure to write your name, title the paper WORC, and write the title of the worksheet. I am looking forward to seeing you soon and hearing the sound of all of you clocking in to WORC:)

I will be available for Zoom meeting times should students/families have any questions.

I have set aside available meeting times:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9am-11am.  If you have any questions, please email me at kapicciotti@vanguardschool-pa.org.  We can schedule a time for a Zoom meeting.  Thank you for your support!

WORC (Work Orientation Readiness Center) teaches and measures the performance in pre-employability, interpersonal, and soft skills.  Functional activities are assigned regularly to students.  Those activities include:  sorting, collating, stapling, paper clipping, laminating, binding, folding, inserting, labeling, cutting, sealing, packaging, assembling, etc.  Skills checklists and task analysis provide evidence of student's knowledge and skill level.
