Mrs. Sandi Spuhler

Hello and thank you for visiting my page! I have had the pleasure of working at the Vanguard School since August of 2013 as a speech pathologist in the Upper School. I have had the opportunity to provide services to students within individual, small and large group and community settings. I specialize in pediatric and adolescent speech-language evaluations and therapy. I most recently served as a Speech-Language Pathologist for a New York City Department of Education public school system for six years and have been working in private practice since 2010. My experience includes targeting therapy in auditory processing, semantics and vocabulary, sentence structure and grammar, word finding, oral and written language, social/pragmatic language and interaction skills, and articulation. I have provided therapy to students along the autism spectrum, students with learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity/inattention disorders, and students with reading disabilities. I received my B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the Syracuse University and an M.S. in Speech and Language Pathology from Teachers College, Columbia University.  I am a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In 2016, I completed Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking Clinical Training Program which afforded me the opportunity to enhance my ability to address the treatment and educational needs of individuals with a broad range of social and communication challenges. I am passionate about helping my students understand and navigate the social world around them.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, skiing, cheering for Philadelphia sports teams, and traveling.

I am greatly looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with learning and laughter.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
