Hello! My name is Jodi Jianniney and I am the Music Teacher at The Vanguard School. I have worked at Vanguard since 2005. In my role as Music Teacher, I work with the elementary, middle school, high school, and transition center students. I love my job because I am one of the few teachers who gets to see the students grow every single year! Some classes that I teach or have taught include general music, chorus, piano, guitar/ukulele, percussion, independent music study, music technology, Orff and drama. For the past several years, the students in the middle school, high school, and transition center have been putting on spectacular musical performances. We have done Aladdin Jr., Alice in Wonderland Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., Shrek the Musical Jr., and The Lion King, Jr. This year we will perform Elf the Musical Jr. and we are so excited!
I am a graduate of West Chester University (Bachelor of Music in Music Education) and Gratz College (Master of Arts in Education). For the past few years, I have been co-presenting at the local and state level at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and have participated in several practicum days with West Chester University music student teachers. In August 2015 and 2018, I had wonderful opportunities to co-present at the Kennedy Center's Very Special Arts- Intersections conference in Washington D.C. I really enjoy talking about my work with the students at Vanguard and sharing ideas with other music educators who work with children with special needs.
When I am not teaching at Vanguard, I teach adapted music lessons at Tempo! Music Therapy Services in West Chester and instrument lessons in the community. I also LOVE taking Zumba Fitness classes and enjoy teaching Zumba to the students and staff at Vanguard.
