The Vanguard School celebrated its 50th anniversary April 17 with a jubilant gala at the Phoenixville Foundry. The evening drew a sold-out crowd of 280 and included hors d’oeuvres, open bar, dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions.
Attendees, including Vanguard School alumni, parents, staff, and friends, packed the dance floor and rocked to music by Chico’s Vibe. Among the items offered at auction were a Philadelphia Phillies 2008 World Series Champions autographed photograph, Phillies Diamond Club tickets, Eagles tickets, and an Adirondack chair hand-painted by students in a Vanguard School’s 3-dimensional design class.
Gala sponsors included The Smith Foundation – George and Janet Smith, Sky and Lyza Morehouse, Mary Jane Smith; The Phoenixville Foundry; Ampacet Corporation; Daley+Jalboot Architects; Stubbs & Hensel Pharma Consulting, LLC; Zukin Realty; Dr. Osborne and Jane Abbey; Robert Ryan Catering; The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center; Fraternal Order of Transit Police, Philadelphia; William Bunch Auctions and Appraisals; The Magical Artistry of Fabian.

The School explores and implements novel individual approaches along with a solid curriculum to foster significant educational and social accomplishments in its students. The ultimate purpose is to have each student become an independent, functional, and happy member of society.
