Language Development: Is it the link to literacy?

A child may have age- appropriate receptive language skills, but still have delays in expressive language. How can you tell? Well, one way is to test receptive language skills by asking the child yes/no questions that don’t require much speech to answer (“Did you hang your coat up?” “Are your grandparents visiting?”). Another way is to put a variety of common objects on a table to see if the child can bring you the specific one when you ask for it.
