Food Service Assistant - Immediate opening!
VFES has an opening for an organized, friendlv person to assist Vanguard's food service manager with daily lunch preparation and cleaning. The assistant will interact and work with students who are learning food service skills. Prior experience working in a school cafeteria is preferred. Experience working with students with autism is also desirable. This is a part-time school year position working 20 hours per week. Hours are l0am - 2pm, Monday to Friday.

Occupational Therapist - Immediate opening!
VFES seeks an experienced, licensed occupational therapist to join Vanguard's clinical team providing pull-out & integrated therapy to Vanguard students with special needs (autism spectrum disorders and/ or neurological impairments). Current PA licensure required. Prior experience working in a school setting with students with autism, developmental delays, and/ or neurological impairments is preferred. This is a full-time, school year position beginning April 6, 2010.

Occupational Therapist for 2010-11 School Year
VFES seeks an experienced, licensed occupational therapist to join Crossroad's faculty and provide clinical services to students with learning differences who attend The Crossroads School. Current PA licensure required. Prior experience in a school setting and an understanding of language-based learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia) is strongly desired. This is a part-time school vear position working 21 hours per week. Position begins August 24,2010.

School Psychologist for 2010-11 School Year
An exciting opportunity exists for a certified School Psychologist to join the VFES team and provide clinical services to students attending The Crossroads School. Working closely with the Crossroads' Head of School and the VFES Director of Clinical Services, the School Psychologist will interpret educational assessments, develop individual learning plans, monitor student progress, and consult with parents and teachers on effective remediation techniques and learning strategies. This is a part-time school year position working 21 hours per week. A limited number of summer hours will also be required. Position begins August 24, 2010.


Per Diem Substitutes
There are openings at Crossroads and Vanguard for per diem Substitutes for the 2009-2010 school year. As a per diem substitute, you are not guaranteed work, but will be called on an "as needed" basis by the substitute coordinator. The pay rate for certified teacher substitutes is $105 per day for the first 20 days of work and $125 per day for subsequent work days. We also have opportunities for noncertified substitutes to work as instructional assistants with a pay rate of $75 per day for the first 20 days of work and $85 per day for subsequent work days.

Summer At Crossroads
The Summer at Crossroads program is designed to boost academic skills and confidence in a relaxed, multi-sensory learning environment. 2010 program dates are: June 28 to July 30. Staff hours are noted below. Available positions include:

  • Homeroom Teachers (hours are 8am-12:30pm, Monday to Friday)
  • Math & Reading Teachers (hours are 8am-12:30pm, Monday to Friday)
  • Recreational Counselors (hours vary, Monday to Friday)

ESY at Vanguard
The Vanguard School offers an Extended School Year (ESY) program for students ages 6 to 2l. The program is designed to maintain skills and to reduce regression during the summer months through incorporating academic, social, behavioral, and vocational needs of students from individual IEP goals. 2010 program dates are: June 28 to August 6. Staff hours are 8:30am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday. Available positions include:
  • Classroom Teachers (all levels)
  • Instructional Assistants
  • Speech Therapists
Summer L.I.F.E.
SUMMER L.I.F.E. (Learning is for Everyone) is an experiential learning program offered to youth, ages 6 - 24, with and without special needs. These 1 and 2 week programs provide youth with "real world" experiences that allow them to generalize academic, social and behavior skills across a variety of settings.   • Counselors needed for day and overnight programs
