Educational Services
Valley Forge Educational Services offers a wide variety of educational services for young children, adolescents and adults ranging from direct school-based programs to clinical and consulting services.
Services offered at this time include:
Education
- The Crossroads School
specializes in assisting average to above average students, ages 5-14, with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia, to greater levels of independent learning. The focus of Crossroads programs is to develop the important academic skills of reading, writing and math while also enhancing a student’s executive functions, such as planning, prioritizing and problem solving. The programs also reinforce the skills of analytical and critical thinking. This is accomplished by employing an individualized, multi-sensory approach to teaching and through the innovative Speaking and Listening Program. As Crossroads students gain academic skills and learning strategies, they are transitioned to new school environments, either private or public.
- The Vanguard School
specializes in programs for children 4-21 whose exceptionalities include Autism Spectrum Disorder, mild emotional disturbance, and neurological impairment. The Vanguard’s unique focus on the individual child and his/her readiness for life is mirrored in its mission statement of “learning for life”. School programs are provided at four levels: primary (kindergarten), lower school (elementary), upper school (middle and high school) and the Career Center which offers students 18 to 21 vocational training and preparation for adult living.
- Summer Matters ™
offers a continuum of innovative summer enrichment and remedial experiences for youth and young adults, ages 6 – 21. The division has three separate and unique programs for summer learning and recreational fun:
-Summer at Crossroads: A comprehensive five-week academic and recreational program offered by VFES’ Crossroads School for children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade that build children's academic skills and enhances their self-confidence.
-Summer L.I.F.E. (Learning is for Everyone): Formerly called Summer Matters, Summer L.I.F.E. is an experiential learning program offered to youth, ages 6 - 21, with and without special needs. This program provides a varied cross-section of "real world" experiences that allows them to generalize academic, social and behavior skills across a variety of settings.
-Extended School Year (ESY) Programming: VFES’ Vanguard School offers Extended School Year (ESY) programs for students, ages 6 to 21, who qualify for an ESY program. The programs are designed to maintain skills and to reduce regression during the summer months by extending academic, social, behavioral, and vocational instruction based on students’ IEP goals.
